To achieve its vision, MAESTRO focuses on the following objectives:
- Objective 1: Enable intent-driven networking in a converged multi-domain multi-resource infrastructure.
- Objective 2: Develop joint network, computational and storage resource allocation algorithms leveraging optimization and AI/ML techniques for efficient intent-based networking (IBN).
- Objective 3: Develop novel AI/ML-based network telemetry mechanisms to enable dynamically adaptable network services.
- Objective 4: Demonstrate the capabilities of the proposed mechanisms to support intent-based networking over converged optical-wireless network infrastructures.
MAESTRO’s ambitions and realistic objectives will be achieved following a 4-step implementation path:
- Step I. Requirements analysis and overall specifications
- Step II. Multi-objective optimization enabled by ML
- Step III. Network telemetry and NFV, SDN cross-domain orchestrator enabled by IBN Network Telemetry
- Step IV. Pilot Demonstrators
In order to achieve the objectives of MAESTRO, the work plan is divided into five (5) Work Packages (WP):
- WP1 – Requirements and architecture specifications of the multi-domain multi-resource infrastructure
- WP2 – Infrastructure dimensioning and multi-objective optimization
- WP3 – AI enabled Intent-based networking operations
- WP4 – Integration and demonstration of autonomous intent-based networking
- WP5 – Project Management and Dissemination
